Exodus 14:13-14

What do we do when we find ourselves trapped between an impossible obstacle ahead and a threatening force closing in behind us? That is exactly the position the Israelites found themselves in at the edge of the Red Sea, and it is a position many of us know all too well. Drawing from Exodus 14, we explore one of Scripture's most dramatic moments of crisis and discover that the real battle being fought is not just physical but internal. Moses speaks four direct commands to a panicking people: do not be afraid, stand firm, see the Lord's salvation, and be quiet. Together these commands form a surprisingly practical and deeply spiritual framework for how trust in God is built and sustained. We are reminded that yesterday's faithfulness does not guarantee today's trust, and that fear reveals what our hearts are truly holding onto. The shift Moses calls us to make is profound: moving from asking 'what is going to happen to me?' to asking 'who is with me in what is happening?' This message speaks directly to the moments in our own lives when circumstances feel overwhelming and the temptation to retreat into old patterns feels almost irresistible.
