In this message, we continue our journey through 1 John as we explore what it means to grow in spiritual maturity. John reminds us of our identity in Christ—we are forgiven, we belong to God, and through His Word we have strength and victory. From this foundation, we’re invited to examine the “order of our loves.”

Drawing on the biblical warning not to love the world or the things of the world, we consider how even good things can become harmful when loved in the wrong order. When God is not first, our loves become disordered and ultimately lead to emptiness and destruction. But when we love God first and follow His will, we experience life that lasts and the joy of walking with Him.

This message challenges us to reflect on what we love most and to return to our “first love” by giving God the first affection of our hearts each day.
