Psalm 147:1-11
Vacation Bible School Sunday Sermon: What if the most familiar nursery rhyme of our childhood holds a deeper spiritual truth we have been missing all along? Humpty Dumpty's story ends in hopelessness, with all the king's horses and all the king's men powerless to restore what was broken. But the gospel refuses to let the story end there. Drawing from Psalm 147, we are reminded that the God who counts and names every star in the sky also knows our names, our fears, our hidden hurts, and the places inside us that feel crumpled and beyond repair. The psalm's declaration that God heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds is not a poetic abstraction. It is a living promise that the King himself steps into our brokenness and does what no earthly power can do. Whether our wounds are visible or invisible, whether they come from small daily disappointments or deep and life-altering losses, we are invited to bring them to the one whose understanding is infinite and whose love is faithful. This is a message that meets us exactly where we are.
