Exodus 2:1-10

This powerful exploration of Exodus 2 reveals how God transforms instruments of death into doorways of salvation. We encounter three unnamed women whose courageous love defies an empire's cruelty and sets in motion one of history's greatest rescue stories. Moses' birth mother demonstrates faith that releases, trusting God enough to let go of what she can no longer protect on her own. His sister shows love that watches and responds, remaining attentive and ready to act at precisely the right moment. Pharaoh's daughter embodies compassion that defies the evil around her, choosing mercy over compliance with her father's murderous decree. The Nile River, intended as an instrument of genocide, becomes the very means of Moses' rescue. This pattern echoes throughout Scripture, culminating in the cross itself, where an object designed for death becomes our source of eternal life. We're challenged to embody these same expressions of courageous love: releasing what we cannot control into God's hands, maintaining faithful attentiveness to opportunities for loving action, and showing radical compassion in a world that often chooses cruelty. The message is clear that in God's hands, nothing intended for our destruction has the final word.
