New Sermon Series
A new sermon series in the Gospel of Mark begins October 11
What happens when we answer Jesus’ invitation to follow him? Beginning Sunday, October 11, we’ll explore that question together in Come, Follow Me, our new sermon series in the Gospel of Mark.
Mark brings us face-to-face with Jesus in action—calling ordinary people, healing the hurting, forgiving sins, and welcoming people others overlook. As his story unfolds, we’re invited to consider who Jesus is and how his good news changes our lives.
This fall, we’ll explore questions such as:
Join us Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Our opening message, “The Kingdom Has Come Near,” will explore Mark 1:1–15. Thursday Bible study will complement the sermons as we journey through the whole Gospel over the coming months.
Go Deeper: From Knowing the Stories to Living the Good News
Mark is a Gospel of movement. Its compact, vivid account carries us from one encounter to another. Yet amid the activity, Jesus makes room for prayer and calls his disciples to be with him. Following Jesus holds together both a relationship with him and participation in his work.
Mark also lets us watch the disciples learn. They respond to Jesus’ call, but their understanding grows unevenly. They ask questions, misunderstand, and struggle. Their journey gives us room to examine our own faith honestly—and to keep following as we grow.
Walking through a whole Gospel helps us see connections we might miss when we hear the stories separately. Jesus’ teaching, healing, welcome, and call to discipleship belong to one unfolding story that leads to the cross and resurrection. Together, they deepen our understanding of the good news.
Our aim is to embody that good news: to trust Jesus, receive his grace, welcome those he welcomes, serve with compassion, and respond to his call in daily life.
The movement of this opening series is simple: Jesus takes the initiative. People respond. A new community forms around him. His invitation reaches us, too: Come, follow me.
