Community Worship Service

Together in Christ: A Community Worship Service

On Sunday, October 4, Christians from four LaGrange congregations will gather at Springs Park for a special Community Worship Service. Beginning at 10:45 AM, the service will include singing, prayer, preaching by Dr. Mark Somers, and the celebration of Holy Communion.

Throughout the New Testament, the unity of Christ’s people is presented as both a gift to receive and a calling to live out. Jesus prayed that his followers “may all be one” so that the world might believe the good news of God’s love (John 17:21). Paul likewise reminds us that there is “one body and one Spirit…one Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Ephesians 4:4–5).
Gathering with believers from other congregations does not mean that every church is identical or that meaningful differences disappear. It means that our deepest identity is found in the One we worship. We belong to Jesus Christ, and through him, we belong to one another.

There is also something important about worshiping publicly in the heart of our community. When Christians gather to sing, pray, hear the Word, and share the Lord’s Table, we offer a visible testimony that Jesus Christ is Lord. Our worship becomes an invitation for our neighbors to see the hope, grace, and fellowship made possible through him. Holy Communion will give especially powerful expression to this truth: though we come from different congregations, we receive the same grace and gather at the same table of Christ.
Covenant Church will worship alongside LaGrange Christian Church, DeHaven Baptist Church, and Centennial Missionary Baptist Church. The entire community is invited, so please invite your friends and neighbors to join us.

In the event of bad weather, the service will be held at DeHaven Baptist Church.
Come and help us offer a joyful public witness to the truth that, in Christ, we are many congregations but one people gathered in his name.
