Live Sent: Discovering Where God May Be Calling You

One of the wonderful things about the Church is that God brings together people with an incredible variety of gifts, experiences, interests, skills, and passions. Often, we may not even realize what God has placed within our congregation—or how something we have learned through our work, family, hobbies, or life experience might become a way of serving others.

On Sunday, September 13, we will be distributing a new Live Sent Interest & Skills Survey during worship. We are asking everyone at Covenant to take a few minutes to complete one.

This is not a sign-up sheet, and checking a box does not commit you to a committee, ministry, or position. Instead, the survey will help us learn more about the people who make up Covenant Church: the kinds of ministry that interest you, the needs in our community that touch your heart, the skills and experience you might be willing to share, and the amount of time you might have available to serve.

Over time, this information can become an important resource for the church. When a new ministry opportunity develops, when a community need arises, or when we need someone with a particular skill or background, we will have a much better idea of whom we might invite into the conversation.

But we hope the survey will accomplish something more than helping the church organize ministry.

It may also help you discover something about your own calling.

Sometimes calling begins with a very simple realization: I care about that. I enjoy doing that. I have experience that could help. I wonder if God might use me there.

You may discover an opportunity you had never considered before. A skill you use every day may become a gift to the church. An interest you have carried quietly may become a place of meaningful service. Or a simple conversation may open the door to something God has been preparing you to do.

As Covenant seeks to Worship Deeply, Grow Boldly, and Live Sent, we want to become a congregation in which every person has opportunities to participate in what God is doing—in our church, in our community, and beyond.
