October Newsletter

October 2025 Newsletter

As we step into October, our church family finds itself right in the middle of a meaningful sermon series that reflects the very heart of Covenant Church. Week by week, we are focusing on what it means to be a community where disciples of Jesus Christ are shaped to Worship Deeply, Grow Boldly, and Live Called. These aren’t just words for us—they are the core aspects of who we are and the path we are called to walk together.
This month, I invite you to lean in with us as we continue to explore these foundations. Each message is an opportunity not only to learn but to be formed more fully as followers of Jesus—people who encounter God in worship, who courageously grow in faith, and who live out our calling in everyday life.

New Church Phone App

Covenant is launching a new phone app.  The app is designed to put everything you need for worship, growth, and connection right at your fingertips. With it, you’ll never miss a sermon again—you can watch or listen anytime and anywhere. Our events calendar makes it easy to keep up with services, Bible studies, and special gatherings, and you can register for events with just a tap. Giving is simple and secure, whether at home or on the go. The app also makes prayer a living, interactive part of our community: share your requests, lift up others in prayer, or join the prayer team to receive needs as they come. Stay informed with the latest church news and announcements, and get timely notifications so you never miss an opportunity to engage. You can read your Bible, take sermon notes directly in the app, and keep connected with your groups and teams through built-in messaging. In short, this is more than an app—it’s a tool for strengthening your walk with Christ and staying connected to your Covenant family throughout the week. Download it today and carry church with you wherever you go.

For just $10 a space (and $5 for a second), you can set up your own booth and turn your extra items into someone else’s treasure. Not only will you free up space at home, but you’ll also be helping others—all proceeds go directly to support a mission charity, so every rented space makes a difference.

At the end of the day, we’ll have a trailer available for unsold items you’d like to donate to the Joy Center in Big Creek, Kentucky. (Please note: once the trailer is full, we can’t accept additional items.)

So whether you plan to sell, shop, or both, come join the fun and be part of a community event that blesses others.

Youth Retreat: God of Creation

Our youth are about to launch into something BIG this October—and you won’t want to miss it!

We’re kicking off our brand-new series, God of Creation, with a 3-day retreat (October 3-5) designed to bring faith to life through adventure, learning, and unforgettable moments together.

The weekend begins Friday night with Youth Night—a high-energy evening packed with laughter, games, worship, and community. It’s the perfect way to set the tone for what’s ahead.

On Saturday, the adventure deepens as we travel to the Creation Museum, where God’s Word comes alive in vivid and powerful ways. From the wonder of creation to the awe of His eternal plan, our students will see God’s story like never before. When we return, the excitement continues with a Youth Overnight—more games, late-night fun, and the kind of bonding that creates lifelong memories.

By Sunday morning, we’ll gather for breakfast and fellowship before joining the whole church family at the 10:00 AM worship service. Together, we’ll celebrate all that God has done over the weekend and look forward to how He will continue to shape our lives.
This retreat isn’t just an event—it’s an invitation to step into God’s story, build deeper friendships, and discover that the Creator of the universe is also the God who knows and loves you personally.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1
Don’t miss this life-changing weekend of faith, fun, and fellowship!

Launching Deep Practice Discipleship Small Groups

At Covenant, we believe discipleship is not just about knowing about Jesus, but learning to live like Jesus. That’s why we are excited to announce the launch of Deep Practice Discipleship Small Groups.

These groups are designed to help every believer grow into a deeply formed disciple through a rhythm of learning, practicing, and reflecting together. In each group you’ll experience:
  • Share – Beginning with reflection on the past week, celebrating growth and encouraging one another.
  • Learn – Engaging with God’s Word through storying, teaching, and discussion.
  • Tell – Talking about how the truth of Scripture applies to our daily lives and how we can share it with others.
  • Live – Choosing a simple “deep practice” for the coming week that helps us not just hear the Word, but put it into action.

Deep Practice Groups are more than another program—they are part of the ecosystem of Covenant Church. Just as our worship services call us to worship deeply, and our outreach invites us to live sent, these groups give us the space to grow boldly as disciples. Together, they form the pathway of transformation that we believe every follower of Jesus is called to walk.

We believe these groups will be deeply life-giving. They create space for encouragement, support, and practical steps that help us grow closer to Christ and one another. The schedule of groups and sign-up information will be released next week. We invite you to look for a group that fits and join us on this journey—you may find it becomes one of the most meaningful parts of your walk with Jesus.

Walk Where Jesus Walked: Holy Land Trip 2026

We are thrilled to invite you to join our 2026 Holy Land Journey—not just as a sightseeing tour, but as a deeply spiritual pilgrimage where the biblical narrative comes alive in the land where it was written.

What this journey offers
• Experience the Gospels in context—walk the streets of Capernaum, sail on the Sea of Galilee, pray in Gethsemane, walk the Via Dolorosa, and share communion at the Garden Tomb.
• Be guided by those who know the land: our pastor, William Moore Jr., will teach along the way, drawing upon his deep knowledge of Scripture, geography, and culture. Joining him is Hannaniah Pinto, an expert biblical scholar and guide.
• Go deeper in faith—each site becomes a living classroom where stories of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection are illuminated afresh.

Trip logistics & cost
  • Dates: March 7–18, 2026 for the main Israel tour.
  • Cost (based on double occupancy): $5,400 (includes airfare from Louisville, lodging, most meals, entrance fees)
  • Single room supplement: $1,500.
  • Optional Jordan extension (March 18–21): $825 (double occupancy) with single supplement $420.
  • Deposit: $500/person to reserve your spot; final payment due December 7, 2025.

Spaces are limited, and the experience promises to be a defining moment for your faith. To see the full itinerary, register, or get more details, visit our trip page.

We hope many from our Covenant family will step into this journey together—so that we might worship more deeply, understand God’s story more fully, and return changed by what we’ve seen and experienced.

The Power of a Like and a Share

Did you know that when you like or share a post from Covenant Church on Facebook or Instagram, you’re doing more than clicking a button? Social media platforms use algorithms that decide how many people see our posts. Every like, comment, or share pushes our message out further—sometimes to hundreds of people we could never reach otherwise.

That means your small action can have a big impact. By engaging with Covenant’s posts, you’re helping the message of Jesus and the ministry of our church reach friends, neighbors, and even strangers who may need encouragement. In a simple way, it’s an expression of your faith and a way of inviting others to experience what God is doing here.

Next time you see one of our posts—take a second to like it, share it, or leave a comment. It’s a powerful and easy way to spread hope and to let people know about your connection with Covenant Church.

Bibles and Bikes for Christian Mission Aid

Over the last two weeks, Covenant Church has come together in an incredible way to support Christian Mission Aid (CMA). Through your generosity, we have collected $9,505 to provide Bibles and bicycles for pastors and teachers in East Africa.

Each Bible placed in the hands of a believer in their own language brings the living Word of God into daily life and worship. Each bicycle given to a pastor or teacher multiplies their reach, allowing them to travel to villages and communities that would otherwise be too far to serve. These simple gifts become powerful tools for the gospel.

Thank you to everyone who has already participated in this effort! If you would still like to give, you can mark your offering “CMA” or give online and designate your gift for Christian Mission Aid. Every contribution makes a difference.

Together, we are helping the Word go forth and the gospel ride farther.

Discover Your Calling & Live Sent

This October, we’ll be exploring two powerful themes in worship that are at the very heart of our life together at Covenant: Discovering Your Calling (October 12) and Living Sent (October 19).

The Bible reminds us that God has a calling for every one of us. We are all invited into His great story—not just pastors or missionaries, but every believer. Paul writes, “For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life” (Ephesians 2:10). Each of us has both a general calling—to love God, follow Christ, and serve others—and a specific calling that reflects how God has uniquely shaped us with gifts, passions, and experiences.

But calling doesn’t end in discovery. It leads to mission. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you” (John 20:21). To be a disciple of Jesus means not only to grow deeply in Him but also to live boldly as His witnesses in the world. That’s why at Covenant we say: Worship Deeply. Grow Boldly. Live Sent.

A Workshop to Go Deeper
This fall, you’ll also have the chance to explore this more fully through our Discover Your Calling Workshop, offered on November 7–8 and again January 23–24.
Here’s what you can expect:
  • Pre-work: Before you arrive, you’ll complete a Spiritual Gifts Inventory and the CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder) assessment. This gives you a starting point for understanding how God has uniquely wired you.
  • Friday evening: We’ll begin with worship and teaching on the difference between our general calling in Christ and our specific callings in life. You’ll have space to reflect on your own sense of God’s call.
  • Saturday morning & afternoon: Through teaching, guided exercises, and group discussions, you’ll learn how your gifts, strengths, and life experiences fit into God’s call. You’ll begin drafting a personal calling statement and consider next steps for living it out in your daily life.
  • After the weekend: Because calling is a journey, not a two-day event, participants will commit to at least three monthly follow-up gatherings over the next six months. These check-ins will provide encouragement, accountability, and tools to help you continue discerning and living into your calling.

The impact of this experience can be life-changing. You’ll come away with greater clarity about who God has created you to be, confidence in how to use your gifts, and courage to live out your faith with purpose. As Paul reminds us, “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit… To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:4, 7).

Friends, God has created you for a purpose. He is calling you, and He is sending you. Join us in October for worship as we open the Scriptures, and take the next step by registering for a workshop that will help you discover your calling and learn to live sent.

Annual Church Members Meeting

On Saturday, November 16 at 11:15 AM, Covenant Church will hold our Annual Members Meeting. This important gathering is an opportunity for the members of Covenant to come together for both the practical and spiritual work of the church.

During the meeting, we will:
  • Hear updates on the ministries of the church.
  • Vote on officers who will help guide us in the coming year.
  • Review and approve the church budget.
  • Carry out other essential business together as a church family.

This meeting is more than just business—it’s a time to celebrate God’s work in and through Covenant, and to lift up our ministries in prayer as we look ahead. We encourage all members to make plans to attend, so we can faithfully steward the mission God has entrusted to us.

Trustees Update: Caring for Our Church Building

This year has brought both challenges and blessings for our church building and property. Our trustees have worked diligently to address several significant needs while ensuring that Covenant remains a safe, welcoming, and functional space for ministry.

Major Repairs and Projects
  • Sanctuary Air Conditioning: Several of our AC units were replaced this year, including one of the two large units that service the sanctuary.
  • Basement Repairs: Flooding in the basement affected the youth, children’s, and preschool areas. Repairs have been completed to restore and protect these vital spaces.
  • Building Sealing and Waterproofing: A major project was undertaken to seal the building and address water damage. During this process, we discovered an additional issue with the windows in the education wing and office area.
  • Landscaping Enhancements: Upgrades to our landscaping and flower beds have improved the beauty and welcome of our property, making the church grounds a more inviting space for members and guests alike.

Window Replacement Project
When the windows were installed 25 years ago, the standard installation practices at the time did not adequately seal the base of the windows. Over time, this has allowed water intrusion. The trustees faced a choice between pursuing costly repairs or full replacement of the affected windows. After careful consideration, the trustees chose to replace the windows.

The cost of this project is $34,995. While it represents an unexpected expense, replacing the windows ensures they are now included in the warranty that covers our sealing and waterproofing work—protecting the church building for years to come.

How You Can Help
Your generous giving to the Church Improvement Fund has already covered much of these expenses, and we are deeply grateful. Additional gifts to this fund will help us meet the full cost of the window replacement project and continue caring for our facility.

Looking Ahead
You may also notice stakes placed around the property. These are part of a property survey, which will give our leaders an accurate picture of our current land and help us plan wisely for future projects.

Thank you for your ongoing support through your prayers, generosity, and care for the ministry God is doing at Covenant.
