Luke 8:26-39

Mar 8, 2026    William Moore

In this message from Gospel of Luke 8:26–39, we encounter one of the most dramatic stories in the Gospels—a man living among tombs, controlled by forces he cannot overcome, and a community that has given up on him. Yet when Jesus arrives, everything changes. This passage reveals not only the reality of spiritual and destructive forces that can trap human lives, but even more importantly the compassion and authority of Christ to restore what seems beyond repair.

Together we explore how Jesus responds differently than the surrounding community. While others try to restrain, avoid, or control the problem, Jesus moves toward the broken with compassion and restores the man’s dignity and humanity. This story invites us to consider how followers of Jesus can respond to people today who are caught in powerful influences such as addiction, injustice, trauma, or destructive environments.

This sermon challenges us to see people through the eyes of Christ, to move toward those who are hurting with wisdom and compassion, and to trust that the restoring power of Jesus is still at work today.
