1 John 2:7-11
What does it really mean to love? Our culture often defines love as emotion, mutual exchange, or personal freedom — but the Bible paints a very different picture. In this passage, John reminds us that love is not the ticket into fellowship with God but the evidence that we are already abiding in Him.
God’s love is steadfast, holy-desiring, and sacrificial — revealed most fully in Jesus Christ. When we abide in Him, that same love begins to flow through us to others. John warns that to live without love is to stumble in the dark, but when we walk in love, we walk in the light.
This message explores how abiding in Christ leads naturally to abiding in love — a love that is constant, that seeks the good and holiness of others, and that is willing to sacrifice for their sake. Rather than trying harder to love, we are invited to go deeper into Jesus and let His love overflow into our relationships.
