Ordination Service
We are thrilled to invite you to a very special event in the life of our church—the ordination service of Melvin Wilhelm, which will take place on Sunday, August 11th, at 10:00 am during our main worship service. A reception will follow in the church lobby.
What is Ordination?
Ordination is a sacred and significant ceremony in the life of a pastor and the church community. It is the process by which individuals are consecrated and set apart for the ministry of the gospel. During the ordination service, the church recognizes and affirms the call of God on the individual’s life, dedicating them to the work of shepherding, teaching, and serving the congregation.
The Significance of Ordination
1. Affirmation of Calling: Ordination is a public affirmation that the individual has been called by God to pastoral ministry. It is a recognition of their spiritual gifts, character, and commitment to serve the church.
2. Empowerment for Ministry: Through ordination, the pastor is empowered and given the authority to perform various ministerial duties, such as preaching, teaching, administering the sacraments, and providing pastoral care.
3. Covenant of Service: Ordination represents a covenant between the pastor, the church, and God. It is a solemn commitment to serve faithfully, lead with integrity, and shepherd the congregation with love and humility.
