A Journey of Continuous Transformation

At Covenant Church, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can experience ongoing spiritual transformation. Whether you've just begun your walk with Jesus Christ or have been following Him faithfully for 50 years, we believe that growth and maturity as a disciple of Jesus never stop.

A key question for all of us is: Where does change come from as a disciple of Jesus? In his book Real-Life Discipleship, Jim Putman highlights four essential sources of transformation in our lives. Let’s explore each one:

  1. The Word of God – Scripture has a powerful role in shaping and transforming us. Jesus prayed in John 17:17, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” Through regular study and reflection, the truth of God’s Word cleanses and molds us to reflect His character.

  2. The Holy Spirit – Change is not something we do on our own. Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us of the fruit the Holy Spirit produces in our lives: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” The Spirit of God dwells in every believer, empowering us to grow and live out our faith as we cooperate with His work within us.

  3. Our Part in the Process – While the Spirit leads, we have a role to play. Galatians 5:25 urges us to “keep in step with the Spirit.” We must choose daily to obey Christ, stay in His presence, and walk in faithfulness if we want to see authentic and lasting change in our lives.

  4. Community with Other Disciples – We are designed to grow in community. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” As we share life together, we support one another in resisting sin, maturing in faith, and nurturing the things of God. Together, we grow stronger and deeper in Christ.

As you continue your journey as a disciple of Jesus, keep leaning into these four areas. By doing so, you will be transformed to reflect Jesus more fully in every aspect of your life, bringing glory to Him in all that you do.

We're excited to grow alongside you and see the ways God continues to work in and through each of us!

You’re Invited: Black History Month Worship Service

Mark your calendars! We are excited to invite you to a very special Black History Month Worship Service on Sunday, February 23rd, at 10:00 AM. This service, themed "Dreaming with the Dreamer," will be a powerful time of worship, reflection, and celebration as we honor the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and embrace the message of Isaiah 43:18-19: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?"

Joining us for this meaningful occasion are our friends from LaGrange Christian Church and Centennial Missionary Baptist Church. Pastors George Trinn and Norris Beckley will join Pastor William Moore to deliver a shared message of hope, justice, and unity, reflecting on how God's transformative power continues to inspire new dreams of peace and reconciliation.

Music will be a highlight of the service, drawing from the rich musical tradition of the African American church. We’ll lift our voices in stirring Gospel hymns and songs of the civil rights movement—music that has carried generations through times of struggle and triumph with hope and faith.

After the service, we’ll gather for a potluck meal—a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fellowship and deepen our connections with one another. Please bring a dish or dessert to share as we celebrate the unity we have in Christ.

This promises to be a joyful and inspiring time together, as we reflect on both the dreams of the past and the new things God is bringing to life among us. Let’s come together as one body to worship, build bridges of understanding, and continue living out Dr. King’s dream of a world shaped by love and justice.

We look forward to seeing you on February 23rd. Come ready to worship, eat and celebrate with us!
